Lunch Information

We operate a two-lunch timetable to ensure that all pupils have time to get their lunch. At lunch time pupils either bring their own lunch or take school dinners in the canteen. Pupils are not permitted to eat food in any other part of the school.

Year 8 pupils have their own designated area in the “small canteen” which is supervised each day by a senior member of staff assisted by a lunchtime supervisor.

Weather permitting pupils go outside after break and lunch for recreation. First years (year 8) have a special area in which to play and socialize at the front of the school. Once again it is supervised by senior staff and lunchtime supervisors. Year 8 pupils may choose to go to one of the lunchtime clubs such as chess, library or drama.

Packed Lunches

We ask parents to provide healthy packed lunches for their children. In line with our healthy eating policy, we ask parents not to include the following products:

  • High fat snacks and confectionery

  • Coke, Fanta and other fizzy drinks

  • High energy or high caffeine drinks such as Boost, BPM, Red Bull etc.

  • Crisps

  • Sweets

  • Nut products (see below)

We have pupils in school who suffer from nut allergy. They may have a severe reaction if they come into contact with nuts. Consequently, we would ask that no nuts/nut products are brought into school for break or in packed lunches.

Healthy alternatives to the above products can be purchased in the canteen to supplement pupils’ lunches such as:

  • Bottled water

  • Milk

  • Fruit juices

  • Fresh fruit salad

  • Plain digestive biscuits/crackers

  • Sandwiches

  • Wraps

  • Paninis

  • Yoghurt

  • Fruit

Our canteen supervisor regularly adapts/modifies menus for pupils with particularly dietary requirements. Please let us know if your son/daughter has specific dietary needs. Parents will appreciate the health reasons for making the above requests and we trust that you will give us your full co-operation in these matters.

Available daily: Sandwiches, Wraps, Panini’s, Yoghurt, Fruit, Milk and Water.

Paying For Your Food

When you have chosen your food bring it to the till and pay for it using your thumb. At each till there is a device that scans your thumb to pay for your food. You ‘credit’ money for use in the canteen by inserting it into one of these machines. There is one machine in the canteen and one outside the main office.
