Aims

The media plays a central role in our society and it shapes our perceptions of the world through the representations, viewpoints and messages they offer. At GCSE, we study a range of media forms in terms of a theoretical framework which includes media language, representation, media industries and audiences. The following forms are studied in depth through applying all areas of the framework: advertising and marketing, film, newspapers, television, music video and online, video games, radio, magazines, social and participatory media. The importance of the media is undeniable and its relevance to the ever changing workplace suggests that the media's importance in contemporary life is only going to increase.
